Original Or Cover?
Throughout the years many artist have covered songs by other artist that they have idolized and respected. Others have just cover other people’s songs to make a quick buck. No matter what the reason, people always argue over which version is better. Is it the original or the cover? So I have decided to let the people decide. Here is the first entry in “Original or Cover”.
OK ,the first song is “Breadfan” and it was originally done in 1973 by the band Budgie.
The song was then cover by Metallica in 1988, as a B-side to “Harvester Of Sorrow”. It was later included on their 1998 album “Garage Inc.”
Which is the better version, original or cover? You decide.

They both suck.
Ok, first of all the song might not be that good, but i am a metal fan so i think you know where this is going to go. I was 4 when the original was made, for the time it was ok but the cover is so much better. I like Metallica alot so it by far for me was my favorite.
I am starting to think though that noone has any original thoughts left in their heads. There are so many covers of every song that has ever been made that noone does anything original anymore. Honestly I think it is very sad that the musicians today cannot make anything new, but welcome to modern music fans. This is the way it will be for who knows how long.
damn the drummer is charles manson
I like the original better of the two, but Ray’s right, they both suck. One good guitar lick and a whole lot of noise. BTW, why are all the comments number 1? Has it always been that way and I just noticed?
@ Tony - I don’t have as much of a problem with songs being covered as I do movies being remade. With songs you get one cover out of 12 songs.
Almost all bands start as cover bands so it is natural that they may want to occasionally want to include one into their concert set list or on an album.
The only problem I have with them is when a band has never had a hit and are relatively unknown and they cover a song to get radio play and have a hit, due to the fact that people know the song.
Also, I think the Metallica song is the better of the two.
Metallica, barely.
I like the older version better, but I love Rush, so hey….you see where this is going too. Oh, by the way, I have many original ideas in my head. Just visit the website and see for yourself.
