Should Stars Clean Their Closets?
This is a recent cover of the gay monthly tantalizingly known as OUT magazine. They have made a name for themselves as a rather questionable source of gay-related news and discussion topics - and by “questionable,” I refer to their policy of outing gay celebrities and news-makers.
As we discussed last month, a bizarre state of denial continues to permeate Hollywood, the world’s largest employer of homosexuals. And while gay-oriented entertainment has made inroads in the mainstream, the stars and behind-the-scenes creators of this entertainment remain hidden.
Perez Hilton published another article today in which the openly-gay gossip maven outed Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster. The accompanying photos show Foster and her longtime friend Cydney Bernard grocery shopping.
The question is not whether these people have the right to privacy; they absolutely do. Instead, do these people have an obligation to come forward and be honest about their sexual orientation? Do we have the right to ask? Would it really change our perception of Jodie’s movie roles - or the news coming from Anderson Cooper’s mouth - if we knew they were gay?
And why does any of this matter in 2007?

Does it really matter if anybody is gay or not. Who really gives a shit? I only have a problem is they are going out of there way to prove they aren’t, yet they really are.
As long as they act like normal people and can do there job, acting, news reporting or whatever it may be, it shouldn’t matter.
@ Eric - But wouldn’t you be able to sleep better at night knowing that you might just be able to get a blow job from Anderson Cooper?
