One ‘Extra’ Chance…
After her expected embarassing performance at the VMA’s, Britney has been invited to try her comeback one more time…
Defamer reports that EXTRA has invited Britney Spears to perform “Gimme More” at their Extra Lounge in either L.A. or Vegas as a chance to redeem the meltdown that was her performance last week. Here’s the official word from “EXTRA”:
“EXTRA’S” OPEN INVITATION TO BRITNEY SPEARS (Los Angeles - September 10, 2007) - “Extra” is opening its doors to Britney Spears for a second chance at a comeback. We made the call to Spears this morning, inviting her to perform at “Extra” on our stage in Los Angeles or in Las Vegas at the Extra Lounge in Planet Hollywood’s Hotel and Resort. Britney, come perform “Gimme More” and show the world what you’ve got. Our stage is yours….the deal is on the table.
EXTRA is smart here. If Britney agrees to this, it will mean huge ratings for them, because everyone wants to see how bad this performance will be also. I have to say, WHAT A BUNCH OF MUTHER******* LEACHES! They know her career is over, and they’re just screwing with her. “Try it again, Britney. We’re sure you’ll nail it this time!” They know damn well that she is never going to have a good performance.
Britney, please go away. If you do this, everyone is just going to laugh at you again. Why? Because, you are washed up. Because you are not talented. Because, well Britney, we really hate you.

Extra just want to score the big ratings, smart move. Britney will probably take this offer, because she still doesn’t realize just how much she sucks.
I think she should do it. It will give us something to talk about. She is currently the only one of the big three (Britney, Paris and Lindsay) being a dumb-ass, so lets all just take advantage of her. I’m sure she loves to be used, it gives her attention and makes her feel special.
For Extra, it’s win win. Regardless of whether she’s terrible or great, everyone will be talking about them. They don’t stand to lose anything, so from a marketing standpoint, it’s a brilliant move.
Not only that, but it gives Spears a shot at showing that she is a viable performer. A shot. So, she stands to win from this as well. But, only if she can learn from her mistakes. (admittedly, she’s never shown much capacity for learning…)
Hell I’m not sure that her VMA performance was a BAD thing for either MTV or Britney. Today’s audience seems to be completely oblivious to things like talent, performance, or cognitive ability. They just want sensory thrills, which Britney is still providing, unfortunately.
