Monday Night Metal 10-08
It’s Monday again, which means it’s time for another edition of Monday Night Metal. Tonight’s you will get some Italian Thrash, some mid 90’s grunge, and some old school Deftones.
First is an old school Deftones song. The song, “Root” appeared on the band’s first album, “Adrenaline”, but was never released as a single. A video for the song turned later up on the Deftones’ “B-sides and Rarities” album. The band has just finished up tour (246 shows) in support of their fifth album “Saturday Night Wrist” and have already began writing for the next album. While we wait for some new stuff, lets enjoy a little old stuff.

Next is the Italian Thrash metal band Necrodeath. The band started in 1984 released two albums, broke up, and was reformed with a new singer and bassist in 2000. The band has released four more album since reforming and their next album “Draculea” comes out on October 25th. Here is a video from the band’s last album, “100% Hell”.

Finally we have Alice In Chains. AIC were one of the first band’s to come out of Seattle in the 1990’s under the “grunge” moniker. The band was very influential and were the first grunge band to be fully excepted by the metal community. Singer Layne Staley died of a drug overdose, in 2002. The band was not active at the time do to Staley’s constant drug abuse. The band has since reformed with singer William DuVall replacing Staley. Here is a classic AIC video.

Must I say the words again?
Of course not. You know how I feel about this shit.
DEFTONES! I’ve seen the Deftones a few times, but about 6 years ago at the Riviera Theatre in downtown Chicago they shook the ground like no other band can. I don’t think there’s ever been more energy at any concert in the world since then. Chino knows how to bring it.
I know they’re not the hardest band out there, but there’s something about them that just seems more talented than most other heavy metal bands. They’re by far my favorite.
@ KC - You seen the Deftones at a good time. They were a much better live show back then. I have seen them 6 times, I think, and their live show lack a little of the intensity that they used to have. They are still a great band though.
About 7 or 8 years ago, they headlined the Warped Tour and Chino did a flip from tower of speakers about 30 feet high into the crowd. It was an amazing show.
All I can say about The Deftones is: great band name.
