Hail Hail Rock n’ Roll
Today the man responsible for the sound we know as Rock ‘n Roll, Chuck Berry, turned 81. Berry’s music continues to impact and inspire young musicians. Berry like the music he created has never stopped. He still performs with passion and energy, and is even still doing the duck walk. He has a concert once a month, in his hometown of St. Louis, at the small club, Blueberry Hill.
Berry will take a rare month off from playing Blueberry Hill, in November, because he is off to Europe for two weeks of shows. Berry is one of our last musical legends, so if you get the chance to see him perform, don’t pass it up. You won’t be disappointed.
Here is a look at the some of his best known songs.
Here is a performance from earlier this year. The audio is not great, but it shows that he’s still got it live.
Johnny B. Goode
Here is a classic performance of No Particular Place To Go.
Here’s a performance of Reelin’ And Rockin’ from 1972.
This is the one that started it all. Here is a performance of Maybelline from the T.V. show Midnight Special in 1973.

Just good old fashioned rock and roll.
I cannot believe we St. Louisans have this national treasure living and still working among us. The man is a legend - it’s almost enough to make you forget that he likes to watch chicks take shits on the toilet.
