Getting Through A Pickle

Last night’s CMA award show was full of good performances.  One of the standout performances was by former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler.  She performed her single, I Wonder, which is a song she co-wrote about her estranged relationship with her mother.

This wasn’t the first time that Kellie has performed the song, but this time was a little different.  Right before Kellie took the stage on the award show, the television station WGHP,  in North Carolina ran an interview with Pickler estranged mother.

Cynthia Malone, who abandoned Picker at the age of two, did an interview with the news channel to explain why she left her daughter.  Malone claimed that she left Kellie behind to get away from Kellie’s abusive father.  What a great mom, she leaves her small child to live with an abusive father.  Luckily for Kellie, her father spent alot of time in prison and her grandparents raised her.

Malone has basically been missing from the public eye, until now.   She is taking advantage of Kellie’s budding music career, to get herself into the spotlight.  This interview was obviously on Kellie mind during the performance and she had a hard time finishing the song.  Kellie showed alot of strength and courage and this was a very good performance, especially under these circumstances.

Here is the performance, followed by the interview with Cynthia Malone.

What an incredible performance. It’s rare to see a performer give everything they have in their heart during a performance anymore. Good for her.

The mother, however, should be beaten like a baby seal.
