Hittin’ ‘em Where It Hurts
Remember all the hype and red carpet glitz that came along with the Golden Globes telecast? Well no more. The ongoing writers strike has given a huge blow to the entertainment industry.
With writers planning to picket the ceremony and most actors unwilling to cross that line the fanfare has been cancelled. According to CNNthe awards will be handed out in a press conference type one hour telecast on NBC this Sunday. The article also estimates that the cancellation could end up costing over $80 million. This has to seen as a huge victory for the writers.
There is still no word yet on how this may affect the Academy Award ceremony due in March. If the strike is still going on one has to assume that similar results could be possible.
It is obvious that the writers are holding the cards here and it seems stupid for the studios to keep this up much longer. Television broadcasts are hurting. The upcoming seasons of many shows are in jeopardy. The film industry is now starting to feel the pressure as it attempts to stroke its own cock. Lets get real, without writers all you have is game shows, reality shows, and a bunch of rich actors sitting around with nothing to do.
The demands of the Writers Guild don’t seem too unreasonable. Let’s get people back to work so we can enjoy our Oscar broadcast the way God intended, with five hours of bad Jewish and lesbian jokes.

Ugh. The one year we actually have some movies of which to be proud and honor, and they go and do this.
