National Treasure: Book of Secrets - A Review

national_treasure_2_book_of_secrets_movie_image.jpgI know that this is quite late to review this film, but the truth is I hate seeing PG rated movies too soon after they come out because there is always a group prepubescent 11 year old fucking up the experience.  So I waited.  Was it worth it?

Depends on what you’re looking for.  If you expect great performances from the all star cast, you might be disappointed.  If you are looking for high class film art, you’re an idiot for buying a ticket.  However, if you’re looking for fun and a great treasure hunt you definitely found it.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets is self-indulgent popcorn movie fun at a very high level.  The story is completely unbelievable and the adventure has little to do with the premise that is originally set up, but it a fun ride nonetheless.

As the Gates family attempts to clear its ancestor’s name, we are taken across the globe in a search for an ancient city of gold.  Clues and puzzles keep the search interesting until the less than stellar but acceptable ending.  Though it doesn’t quite keep pace with the original Book of Secrets comes close.  Fans of the original will like this one.  Fans of this one are already looking forward to the third, which was teased at the end.

I commented in Ray’s reviewthat these films are like candy, you love it until you have to go to the dentist.  We have definitely had our share of mindless cavity inducing adventure.  I get the feeling part three is going to be the trip to the dentist.  Unbelievable only works for so long.
