Renegade Television
One of the most perfect things ever broadcast over the waves of television was the first season of Wonder Showzen by the art/media collective known as PFFR. It didn’t last long thanks to the non-stop references to abortion, Hitler, and puppet sex.
The creators of Wonder Showzen have returned after a hiatus - presumably on the moon - with a (barely) animated show on Adult Swim called Xavier: Renegade Angel.
The show is created using 3-D animation that in quality resembles the computer-simulated tanks from that old Atari in your attic. It features the bizarre adventures of Xavier, a faun-like creature with a snake hand, weirdly-colored eyes, a beak, and six nipples.
Um … yeah.
Within five seconds, anyone familiar with Wonder Showzen will realize that they are on familiar ground; the show moves at a lightning pace, and delivers some of the most absurd dialogue and situations on this side of consciousness. I have no idea what these guys are smoking, but I know for sure that I want none of it.
Here is an episode called The Sixth Teat Of Good Intentions:
Yikes.
Thank goodness these guys are back.
