Not So Scary Remakes
The horror remakes just keep coming. One will be headed to theaters and one will be straight-to-DVD. Do these trailer makes you want to see either.
First is the remake to the 1980 Jamie Lee Curtis horror movie, Prom Night. The original was pretty simple, a killer from Jamie Lee’s past comes to kill her and her friends. In the remake, Britney Snow (American Dreams and Hairspray) takes on the role of Jamie Lee and is going to bore the hell out of us for 90 minutes. The movie looks like American Pie (minus Shannon Elizabeth’s tits) with knifes and blood. This waste of time will be out in April. Here’s the trailer and if it’s any indication, the soundtrack will be even scarier than the movie.
The next one is the remake of Day Of The Dead. “Day” is the final piece of the George A. Romero’s Night Of The Living Dead trilogy. The original was slow paced and the worst of the “Dead” movies, but it was still fun. I’m not sure if this is going to continue from the Dawn Of The Dead remake (one of the best remakes ever), but this movie looks like utter shit.
Maybe this one will be able to fall back on the acting. It will star rapper Nick Cannon, Mena Suvari, and Ving Rhames. That’s some top notch acting right there. The best part of the movie will no doubt be the funny racial jokes. This is going straight-to-DVD and likely the SCI-FI channel soon after. Here’s the trailer.

Hmm … the title card “From the director of Halloween H2O” doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence.
none shall be good
