The Economist

sayid2.jpgI have put off writing anything about last night’s episode because frankly I myself am starting to get a little lost.

I’m pretty sure that I understand most of what happened.  Sayid is one of the Oceanic 6 and is now working for Ben in order to find a person known as The Economist, even though they are not an economist.  Whatever this person is future Sayid and future Ben need them killed.  Why?  Here’s my guess.  The person they are after is actually Charles Widmore, yes Penny’s father. 

I keep bringing him up even though he has not appeared in scene since Flashes Before Your Eyes.  But I feel that he is very important, and it seems that a kill or be killed thing is developing between Widmore’s side and those left on the island.  The struggles that the Oceanic 6 are dealing with are being stuck in the middle and being forced to ignore this fight.  It appears Ben and Sayid are not going to ignore it any longer.

The other curious thing which is proving the theory of some sort of lapse in space and time was Daniel’s experiment.  I could try to explain what many believe is going on, but I would eventually slip[ on the portions of brains that oozed out of my nose.  So here is a link to docarzt’s blog page that explains the theory more clearly than I ever could.  I will warn you that this makes a whole lot of sense.  I also find it curious that this theory has picked a lot of steam just prior to this week’s episode. 

Lost has had a very strange and different tone so far this year.  In a way it is cool to see something so different.  In another it is disturbing to be out of our comfort zone.  Either way it is going to be one hell of a ride watching this play out.
