This Is How To Sell A Hamburger
I hate to watch T.V. commercials, they’re usually pointless and annoying. I will watch a few, the beer and soda companies can usually get keep my attention and I will watch them, before changing the channel. It seems that most companies are just lost when it comes to trying to sell their product. Well, almost all.
No Innuendos Needed
WARNING THIS STORY CONTAINES NUDITY.
For years, Disney has be accused of putting sexual sexual innuendos in their movies. They have been accused putting the word sex in the clouds, in “The Lion King”, they made one of the castle towers in “The Little Mermaid” look like a penis and they put a topless woman in a window in “The Rescuers”.
The complaints again them for this sort of thing just goes on and on and they just try to ignore them. They just deny knowing anything about it, even though they have offended some parents - who say the messages are subliminal.
Stop Laughing At My Cock, Fat Boy
On the set of the new movie “Run, Fatboy, Run”,Simon Pegg (”Shaun Of The Dead”) spent some quality time with co-star Hank Azaria (”The Birdcage”, and the voice of Moe, Apu, and Chief Wiggum on “The Simpsons”).
The New Sound And Color?
Jeffrey Katzenberg believes it. So does George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemekis, and James Cameron.
But the most important question is … do YOU believe it?
Will 3D movies revolutionize the moviegoing experience?
The Wachowski SIBLINGS?
The two people in the above photograph were once known as The Wachowski Brothers. They are responsible for the seismic shift in filmmaking in the late nineties with The Matrix. And now they are attempting something equally as mind-bending on a personal and professional level.
Larry Wachowski (on the left) is now Lana Wachowski.
The New Breed Of Super Hero
It seems we have seen ever type of superhero put onto the big screen lately. We’ve had everything, “Batman”, “Spiderman”, “Superman”, ”X-men”, and hell even ”Cat Woman”. Soon we’ll have “The Justice League”, “Iron Man”, and “Thor”, but there will also be one that’s a little different from the rest.
Should Stars Clean Their Closets?
This is a recent cover of the gay monthly tantalizingly known as OUT magazine. They have made a name for themselves as a rather questionable source of gay-related news and discussion topics - and by “questionable,” I refer to their policy of outing gay celebrities and news-makers.
As we discussed last month, a bizarre state of denial continues to permeate Hollywood, the world’s largest employer of homosexuals. And while gay-oriented entertainment has made inroads in the mainstream, the stars and behind-the-scenes creators of this entertainment remain hidden.
Perez Hilton published another article today in which the openly-gay gossip maven outed Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster. The accompanying photos show Foster and her longtime friend Cydney Bernard grocery shopping.
The question is not whether these people have the right to privacy; they absolutely do. Instead, do these people have an obligation to come forward and be honest about their sexual orientation? Do we have the right to ask? Would it really change our perception of Jodie’s movie roles - or the news coming from Anderson Cooper’s mouth - if we knew they were gay?
And why does any of this matter in 2007?

Britney Gives Us More
Britney Spears has been on the comeback trail for a while now. Thankfully, she has done everything she can think of to alienate her fans and with her career hanging by a string, her comeback has hit full circle.
A Ban On Smoking In Movies Clears The Air?
Marlene Dietrich smoked like the Twin Towers on 9/12 … but did that influence the young people of her generation to pick up the habit?
Many people feel that it has an effect, including those who run Disney and Universal Studios. Recently these studios and the Motion Picture Association of America made headlines with their announcement to ban smoking from their films.
Now the issue has been debated on Attack of the Show:
What Makes An Unreal Character Come To Life?
KC and I watched Pan’s Labyrinth on Wednesday, and we got into a semi-inebriated discussion about the film’s effects, and why they work so well when so many other film characters fail miserably.
What makes it work? Is it the director? The cinematographer? The makeup and special effects artists? Some intangible concoction of these elements?
Here are some of the best and worst examples, in an attempt to answer the question …
Is Science Fiction Dead?
Today director Ridley Scott spoke at length with the London Times about the state of films, and particularly science fiction films.
Here is what the revered filmmaker had to say about the subject:
Was Jedi The Beginning of the End?
A question arose in my mind after writing my sarcastic little tribute to George Lucas’ magnum-opus Return of the Jedi: Was this film the beginning of the decline of moviemaking? Very often, critics point to Star Wars as the beginning of the end, citing the overemphasis on merchandising and special effects. However, Star Wars still had a tremendous amount of creativity and originality powering it. In my mind, Return of the Jedi is the actual culprit.
It’s interesting how this debate was raging even at the time of release for Jedi. The following is an argument on Nightline back in 1983 between film critics Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert, and John Simon about this very question.
How prophetic some of their responses have proven to be!
