Youtube is the basis of a lot of stupid shit. A large majority of the original material uploaded to youtube is made by annoying little teenagers who think the world wants to hear them bitch about how tough life is and say fuck 10 times. Another big majority are people who are really trying to create good entertainment on a budget. Then there’s that small amount of original material that is actually well produced and enjoyable to watch.
This brings me to a couple of videos produced by Radiolab, a nationally syndicated radio program produced in New York City, and broadcast on NPR (Nation Public Radio) stations in the United States. The videos are complex and poignant yet simple and inspiring. The first video was made last year and was simply title “Moments”. The video is a simple look at life and the moments that make it special.
The other and most recent video is entitled, “Words”. It’s a simple and thought provoking play on words. It’s very well cut together and makes you think as you watch it. You will probably have to watch it twice to catch what the filmmaker is doing here. These videos are exceptional and should really inspire the amateur film maker in us all.
By the way, did you catch the eight words that were being described in the video?
This is a recurring feature where we throw light on bands and albums that have been lost and forgotten to the ravages of time.
For many music fans, nineties dance band Deee-Lite was a one-hit wonder with a goofy, eye-catching sense of style and whimsy. Although technically correct, critics of this seminal and visionary outfit are missing out on some of the best and most engaging pop music created in the last twenty years. (more…)
We’ve all heard stories of what happens to your food at fast food places. I think we all know that sometimes food is dropped and then used, but we want to believe it has never happened to our food. I just hope that if my food is ever dropped on the floor, someone is there to stop it be being used, like this guy.
A worker for a Wendy’s restaurant in Connecticut was arrested after pulling a knife on a co-worker. He pulled the knife, because he watched he co-worker drop some bacon on the floor and then pick it up and put it on someone’s sandwich.
I say good for this guy and he shouldn’t have been arrested and taken to jail. The guy was doing the right thing and I don’t beleive he should have any type of punishment. He was doing a civil service and he should be given a raise for outstanding customer service.
I don’t dislike vegetarians, but some of them can be quite annoying. The ones that constantly tell you how wrong you are for killing and eating innocent animals. I don’t really care if someone wants to eat grass and twigs and smashed up mush burgers, but I don’t care to be told what I should eat either.
One of the most annoying things is when you go to someone else’s house and they want to impose their grass eating beliefs on you. Sometimes these people get so stuck in their world of making you understand their stance on meat eating that they don’t really see how close minded and selfish they are being. It’s OK to be vegetarian, but some of us want to eat a cow.
For those that are tired of the Peta police, here a funny video showing the meat eaters point of view.
Minor League baseball is great. The guys play of the love of the game and the dream of one day making it big. The ticket prices are cheap, the concessions are reasonable and the home team usual has plenty of family activities going on throughout the game.
Another thing great about the minor leagues are the manager ejections. There have been some great manager and umpire disputes in the minor leagues over the years that have led to the managers being ejected. Some managers go back to the clubhouse quietly, some don’t. That’s when things get real entertaining.
The latest minor league manager to lose his cool after being ejected is Gary Robinson. Robinson is the manager of the of Pittsburgh Pirates Class A affiliate, State College (PA) Spikes. Robinson disputed the home plate umpires umpire on a call involving a hit batter, then left the field. He didn’t go quietly though, he continued yelling at the umpire from the dugout and was quickly ejected. This brought Robinson back out onto the field for what is one of the most unusual manager tantrums in recent time.
