The Ultimate Terror
Today marks the 34th anniversary of possibly the greatest horror movie of all time, The Exorcist. The movie opened in theaters in 1973, on the day after Christmas and the theatrical movie experience shocked and terrified the world.
The origainal trailer was one of the most effective movie trailers ever. It gave you just enough that you wanted more and still scared the shit out of you. Here is the original trailer.
Happy Holiday
We hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday today! Regardless of religious belief, this is still a wonderful and rare opportunity to connect with family and friends … so make the most of it if you can.
A perennial favorite at this time of the year is the brilliant A Christmas Story. So thoroughly has it ingrained itself into popular culture that it is hard to remember the reaction that first greeted the movie in 1983. Here is a perfect and prophetic take on the movie by Siskel and Ebert when the movie premiered:
If Ron Paul Can’t Get Air Time, His Supporters Will
If Fox, CNN and MSNBC won’t give Ron Paul air time. his supporters will take it from other candidates. This past week, Rudy “911″ Guiliani visited St. Louis. The local Fox affiliate send a reporter out to the site of his speech, presumably to get fan reaction. What they got, was something else.
Will Horton Hear, Cha-Ching?
Next March, Horton Hears A Who will make it’s way into a new generation of children’s hearts. Horton has always been one of Dr. Seuss’s most well known and beloved books. Horton is a heartfelt story of a big dumb elephant that thinks life exist on a speck of dust, only knowbody believes him. Horton is a perfect example of the innocence and creativity that I think most kids are missing today.
Dark Knight To The Imax
Here is a crappy version of that extended IMAX preview of The Dark Knight. This and the preview I saw with I Am Legend give me the impression that this will be a visual feast, but one filled with lame, self-serving dialogue and obvious plotting - basically the same problems and joys I had with Batman Begins.
The Lost Whisper
Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation was a thoughtful but mostly inert meditation on romance and aging, which makes it head and shoulders above anything her father has done in 25 years. However, the film held sway over audiences thanks to Bill Murray’s complex performance, and a romantic little whisper at the very end of the film. That inaudible snippet - which has confounded fans for years - has finally been revealed due to terrific audio processing.

Eric’s Top 5 Music Videos Of All Time
There have been alot of great music videos over the years, well not recently, so trying to pick my top five is very hard. Some have had a huge impact on music Smells Like Teen Spirit or Welcome To The Jungle, but neither are great videos. Others like Losing My Religion and Jeremy made an impact for being socially conscious. Some are just bring back cool memories of our childhood. Whatever the reason, music videos used to be a vital part of the music industry. Here are my top 5 picks.
Chris’ Top Five Videos
When we decided to do this I thought it would be easy to pick five videos. It wasn’t. On what criteria is a video the best? Artistic importance? Future influence? Quality of the song itself? I think all of these are important among other things. So I tried to take everything into account and I know that there are some great ones that will be left off of my list. I hope the other guys can pick up my slack there. Read more
Yes!!!!! There Is A God

Jessica Simpson has been in one bad movie after another, but still she want to be concidered a serious actress. So she has decide to do something to make us all take her seriously.
Machine Girl Rips Out Your Heart
A few years ago I told Chris this idea I had for a crazy, uninhibited film that crossed ninja warriors, giant, Godzilla-style monsters, invaders from space, and innocent kids turned into mutant robots. He looked at me with a justifiable look of concern.
Perhaps Chris should avoid the theater the day Machine Girl opens fire. It’s like something my brain farted after a night of reefer madness, inflatable sex, and White Castles.
Where The Hell Is Maury?
What the hell is happening is going on? Daytime T.V. was the perfect time to sit back and laugh at all the white trash rednecks and ghetto trash of the world. There are approximately 85 different judge shows on every day. You have a judge for everything you can think of. There are judges shows for divorces, problem children, small claims, fighting rednecks, wigger whores, and scamming old guys.
These shows can be entertaining and at times very funny, but what the hell happened to The Maury Povich Show? Here in St. Louis, it’s not on anymore. During those boring weekdays of skipping work or shcool, where was no better show to watch. It was much more sincere than the judge shows, more insightful than the news and certainly more believable than Jerry Springer.
Introducing Isabella
She looks about as happy as Eric listening to the new Britney Spears song, doesn’t she??
We’d like to take a second to pause and relish the birth of the newest addition to the REC family. Our very own Eric and his wonderful wife brought Isabella Grace into the world today. Isabella, her big sister Sarah, and her proud (and relieved) parents are all doing great.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!
Ain’t So Sunny In Philly
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia begins it’s third season sun, and to promote the cult FX hit, the producers are holding true to the show’s low-budget roots.
The show was created on a DV camcorder by two struggling actors. It cost them $85 dollars to make. With that, they managed to sell the show to FX, which then turned it into a hit. The buzz attracted Danny Devito to join the cast for the second season.
I have a feeling he will enjoy the third season much, much more:

The Seed That Grew Into An Empire
On this day 79 years ago, the Disney empire was born. Walt Disney produced the first animated short feature film with a completely post-produced soundtrack of music, dialogue, and sound effects. This cartoon was called Steamboat Willie and it also gave birth to the worlds most famous cartoon characters, Mickey Mouse.
Great Live Performance
Earlier this year, the Live Earth concert gave us a number of great performances. I thought this one really stuck out as one of the better overall moments of the concert.
Recognizing The Little People
The writer’s strike continues through its second week, and both sides have only deepened their entrenched ideas about the concept of “fair” treatment.
But it’s nice to see some high-paid celebrity non-writers come out in defense of the little guys.
