When will people stop trying to turn their small children into stars for their own personal gain? Why do people think it’s cute and funny to dress small children like little thugs and punks? The latest example of this corruption of childhood innocence and destruction of popular music comes from one half of the Insane Clown Posse, Violent J.
J’s, five year old son Violent JJ (clever, huh?) has released his first music video, Bad Bad Man. JJ is probably like every other little boy, he just wants to be like his bad. The only problem is his dad paints his face like a clown, throws soda on the crowd and raps about having sex with dead women.
As should be expected, JJ’s song is terible and hard to listen to for even the full two minutes. The video is an entertaining look at JJ’s experiences smacking around grown men in a wrestling ring. Some please stop letting this shit happen.
Andrew Koenig, better know to the world as Boner has been found dead in a densely wood area. He was found by family and friends who initiated their own private search. Boner had been battling depression according to his father, Star Trek actor Walter Koenig. The 41 year old actor had been missing for over a week.
It’s very sad that at 41 years old he felt that his life was lost and that the only answer was suicide.
So I watched X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE a few days ago and posted my reactions to the rough cut of this upcoming film. Not only was I deluged with pompous, self-righteous comments from angelic beings of pure light, but the site was also targeted by FOX with demands to remove the sneak peek.
My review of THE DARK KNIGHT used words like “masterpiece” quite liberally. Subsequent viewings only strengthened my support for this rare and brilliant summer blockbuster.
While HEATH LEDGER has received most of the attention, the film fires on all cylinders. It’s structurally and philosophically dense, with layered performances to match director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’S brooding and meditative composition. In one stroke, it raised the bar for summer action films and changed the rules future comic book adaptations will follow.
For some reason, recent chatter about Best Picture nominees have unjustly ignored this year’s highest grossing film as a potential honoree. To these, I submit that THE DARK KNIGHT is at least as dense and as powerful as THE DEPARTED, which unfairly won Best Picture two years ago. In the past, films like STAR WARS and E.T. have vied for an Oscar, yet neither one of those films attempts the type of adult drama that KNIGHT manages easily. It would be a grievous mistake to overlook this film’s merits simply because it features a dude running around in a cape and cowl.
To amplify this, Warner Brothers has turned up the heat with a series of promos to persuade Academy voters. Revisit some of this summer’s best moments right here:
As Chris eluded to to in his last post, the Rolling Stone list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time is an absolute atrocity. The biggest problem I have with this is that Rolling Stone’s word is so highly revered. Of Course, it’s only highly revered by those who have little to no music knowledge and those who have their asshole reamed by Rolling Stone on a constant basis. All list are just opinion, but when your opinion is printed in the “Holy Book” of music it should come with some responsibility.
You should actually try to but a list of the “best”, not a who’s who of artsy performers that you consider influential. One of the most common phrases used to describe these greatest singers is “influential”. Ozzy Osbourne was influential, shouldn’t he be on the list then. They even tell you that one artist, Solomon Burke never had a crossover hit. While I don’t think a big hit makes you a great singer, I do think that a great singer should have a big hit. I mean, if your that damn good wouldn’t your songs be. Now on to the list and my thoughts.
