Cloverfield Attacks!
Prior to my preview of Beowulf, they played the highly anticipated trailer for J.J. Abrams’ mystery monster movie.
Coming Attractions
Movie trailer are at times the best part of the movie going experience. Here are the trailers for some upcoming films.
Movie or PC Game?
Does someone want tell me what the hell this is all about?
“>This looks like a PC game trailer from the late 80’s! I just…I just…I…ugh.
Anakin Dares Us To Stay AWAKE
It is appropriate to display a picture of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker in any discussion regarding his upcoming film AWAKE, since Hayden apparently resumes the weird, deliberate line readings that doomed his portrayal of the Star Wars villain.
Coming Attractions?
Trailers are often my favorite part of the theatrical experience; they help me fantasize about the possibility of a better movie than the one I am currently seeing.
We have brand new trailers for I Am Legend and John Rambo on tap for ya. Take a gander and let us know what you think.
Anakin Jumps Back Into Action
I thought you hated sand, Anakin? It’s course, and rough, and irritating … and it gets everywhere … like between your ass cheeks while your frolicking on a nude gay beach, I guess.
All speculation of Hayden Christensen’s sexuality aside, sand makes an appearance in the trailer for Hayden’s long-anticipated return to the big screen in Doug Liman’s Jumper.
A Child Shall Paint Them

Do you consider this painting to be art?
If yes … do you still think it’s art if it’s painted by a four year old?
And if yes … do you still think it’s art if it’s painted by the parent of a four year old and then passed off as the child’s work?
These and many other questions get a shiny new coat in the upcoming documentary about young artist Marla Olmstead in My Kid Could Paint That. Check out the new trailer after the jump:
All That Is Man
Will Ferrell bares all in this EXTREME teaser trailer for his upcoming movie Semi-Pro. Check it out after the jump.
Odd Todd
I have had little interest in Tim Burton movies for some time now. I saw his “reimagining” of Planet of the Apes, and something inside me died for Burton that has yet to reanimate.
After seeing this new trailer for Burton’s upcoming Sweeney Todd, I can’t say it’s coming back any time soon.
Itching For A Fix
Lost ended with a bang this spring. Recovering nicely from a subpar first half, Season 3’s finale left us looking forward to the 4th. We have gotten very little in way of busy time unlike last year’s Lost Experience. The genius Internet game that gave more insight into the mysteries and propelled us right up to the season premier. Right now we are left with only ABC’s leaked promos. Read more
Darko’s Gone South
Richard Kelly has spent approximately 143 years working on Southland Tales. Or so it seems.
His eagerly-anticipated follow-up to his unexpected cult hit Donnie Darko was completely demolished when it was shown incomplete at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. To his credit, Kelly didn’t give up on his sophomore effort and crawl into a fetal position under his coffee table. Instead, he kept working on it for two more years.
Now comes the first trailer for Southland Tales.
Boring-Wulf
Here is The Rec’s exclusive preview of Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming adaptation of the classic poem Beowulf. BEWARE: SPOILERS AHEAD!!
P.S. Someone Kill Me
A trailer has been released for Richard LaGravanese’s P.S. I Love You. How does Gerard Butler go from the mighty Leonidas in 300 to this? After the jump, prepare to claw your own eyes out.
Remake Yourself!
The remake craze has hit a new peak. Instead of waiting for another director to remake your old films, just do it yourself!
Such is the case with Austrian director Michael Haneke. In 1997, he directed a film called Funny Games, which involved a young couple who are trapped and terrorized in a house by two sadistic young men.
Now, ten years later, Haneke has created a shot-for-shot American remake of Funny Games starring Naomi Watts and Tim Roth.
The trailer is astoundingly brilliant, and works perfectly:
More than Just a Pretty Face
The road has been long for George Clooney. It took ten years to elevate himself from pretty boy supporting role on Facts of Life to the king of television drama on E.R.. It then took him several more years to make a legitimate jump to film. After several flops and nipples on the Batsuit, Clooney finally established himself as a box-office power house with the Ocean’s flicks. In between there Clooney began separating himself from much of the pack as an artist and not just People’s “Sexist Man Alive.” Read more
Taking Apart A Jigsaw
There’s not much to say about the upcoming Saw 4 except that it is utterly pointless. Well, perhaps it’s not pointless to the studio executives and accountants of Lionsgate, but in the long haul of cinematic achievement, the film will barely mean anything two weeks after its release.
But the trailers produced by the series have been phenomenal.
The latest trailer for Saw 4 has found its way onto the internet, and it’s a doozy. This might be the bloodiest trailer ever released professionally by a major studio. Check it out, if you dare:
Iron Man Suits Up
Iron Man is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated summer films of next year. The storyline is at once relevant and dramatically satisfying, and it also stars the always-interesting Robert Downey Jr.
The trailer has hit the internet in crystal-clear high definition.
Rambo Goes Nuts
Rambo 4 continues its steady, inexorable march to theaters. Do you really think your heart is prepared for the subtle character development, esoteric plot developments, and pointed social commentary?
Actually, we’re all in it for the blood, and writer / director / star / melting face Sylvester Stallone knows it. I am actually more interested in what the film reveals about Stallone’s psyche than anything onsreen. If the following brand-new trailer is accurate, then the only element featured in this film is blood - and lots of it. Take a look after the jump.
Naughty Beowulf!
There has been a lot of skepticism about the upcoming Zemeckis CGI adventure, “Beowulf.” But a lot of opionions have changed… Read more
Saw IV…WHY?
Why, oh why is this happening…
