Garth Brooks is making a comeback of sorts. A new album, a few concerts, a number one song and a shot on the big screen, sort of. His November 12th concert in Kansas City will be simulcast to more than 300 movie theaters nationwide.
This show will be the final of nine sold out shows, all in Kansas City, Missouri. Brooks was originally just going to release his new greatest hits album, do a show and go back into retirement. However, after the show sold out in just minutes he just kept adding more, until finally settling on nine shows. Brooks hasn’t toured since 1998 and the shows are the only ones he’s doing this year. He has no plans to do any others, ever.
Brooks had a golden chance to just step out of retirement, do the usual special comeback show and charge people a few hundred dollars to see him. Brooks, though, has always been about the fans and this was no different. The ticket prices for these shows, including the taxes and service charges were only $32.50 each, for any seat in the venue.
Garth has sold over 100 million albums and doesn’t need to rip off his fans. He’s simply doing this as a treat for his fans and because he misses performing. Garth is also releasing a three-disc hits collection “The Ultimate Hits” on November 6th that will include three new songs, one bonus track and a DVD featuring 34 music videos. The price of this is expected to be between $11 and $14. That price is unheard of for this type of collection. Hell, even a single CD costs $15 to $20.
Brooks also has set a record with his latest single More Than A Memory. The song is the first song to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard country singles chart.

He’s the Michael Jackson of country music, but this is pretty damn cool.
It’s nice to read about artists who actually care about their fans instead of wanting to rob them blind.
If he’s going to blind them at all. it’s going to be because of those damn shirts he wears.
