Legendary blues guitarist Bo Diddley has been hospitalized in Gainesville, Florida after suffering a heart attack.

The 78 year old blues great complained of dizziness and nausea during a routine medical check up and according to his publicist Susan Clary he is conscious, but the situation is very serious.  Last May, Diddley suffered a stoke after a concert performance in Iowa.

Diddley is an icon of the Blues.  He is known for his black glasses and his rectangular guitar as much as he is for his music, which is a timeless stable of American blues.  He helped evolve the blues into rock n’ roll with his fast paced rhythms and his thick muddy guitar sound.

He created some great songs using a simple rumba-like beat that became his signature sound and has been stolen by many great artist since.  The best example of his sound are the songs “Bo Diddley” and “Who Do You Love”.
